About Murali

Murali was born and grew up in Bangalore, India in a challenging environment. His parents emphasized hard work, education, and most importantly caring for others. He completed his undergraduation in Engineering top of his class.

Murali immigrated to the United States from India to pursue his American Dream. He pursued a career in the Software and Technology industry. He has been an engineer and a tech executive at Sun Microsystems, WhoWhere?, Automated License Systems, and General Electric. He also consulted for Ariba/SAP and Amazon.com. He has started and managed a string of successful startups.

He holds Masters degrees in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and Engineering Management from Stanford University.

He has been a resident of District 3 of Sunnyvale since 1997 and has been involved in numerous community organizations - Leadership Sunnyvale, Sunnyvale Community Services, Sankara Eye Foundation, Ortega Park Neighborhood Association, and South Asian Cultural Association of Sunnyvale. He also serves on the Sustainability Commission.

Murali has strong fiscal and problem-solving skills. He will bring diversity, critical thinking, and experience to the City Council.
